SLOW: Because ideas are recorded one-at-a-time and people
ramble and digress, it takes up to an hour to collect a handful of
ideas. Groups often run out of time before accomplishing what
they set out to do.

EXPENSIVE: Meetings are expensive – the combined cost
of the attendee’s wages can be thousands of dollars per hour.
Add to that the cost of travel.

SOME PEOPLE DO ALL THE TALKING: One or two people
dominate the discussion.

SOME PEOPLE ARE AFRAID TO CONTRIBUTE: Shy or
low-power people are afraid to express creative or controversial
ideas in public.

DOESN'T COMPUTE: The only way to vote is by a show
of hands.

LIMITED SPACE: Quickly run out of room to write; pages
are taped to wall; writing is hard to see; much of what is
spoken is lost.

REARRANGING IS DIFFICULT: Ideas are difficult to reorder
and rearrange.

TRANSCRIPTION IS SLOW: Takes days to produce the
meeting report.
FAST: Because everyone can type their ideas simultaneously,
groupware captures dozens of ideas in minutes. Groups typically
accomplish three times as much work compared to traditional
meeting methods.

SAVES MONEY: The ability to accomplish three days’ work in a
day reduces wage-related meeting costs. If you choose the
option of meeting online, you’ll save the travel costs.

EVERYONE CONTRIBUTES EQUALLY: Simultaneous entry
gives everyone an equal amount of time to contribute their ideas.

ELIMINATES THE FEAR OF CONTRIBUTING: An optional
anonymous entry feature encourages people to contribute
creative and controversial ideas.

COMPUTES: Sophisticated voting tools enable the group to
quickly prioritize ideas.

UNLIMITED SPACE: No limit to the writing space; no need to
tape pages to wall; writing is easy to see; everything that is
typed is captured.

REARRANGING IS EASY: Ideas can be quickly ordered and
organized with the move of a mouse.

TRANSCRIPTION IS FAST: The meeting report is produced
with the push of a button.
We support face-to-face meetings with our mobile system
and remote meetings on the internet

The technology is most often used to support small groups. Our mobile system can be easily
transported and set up anywhere in the world. Computer-supported meetings are the perfect
solution for strategic planning retreats and other types of group ideation sessions.
The technology can be scaled up to support 200 people. With this arrangement, the room is configured
with multiple rounds of 8 - 10 people. A laptop computer is placed at each of the roundtables. As shown
in the adjacent photograph, one person at the table acts as the scribe for his or her tablemates.
The technology also supports meetings conducted remotely over the internet. The meeting participants
log on to a web site and simultaneously engage in a telephone conference call. Another approach is
the hybrid meeting, where a core group meets face-to-face and others participate remotely.
This is the perfect groupware tool for strategic planning retreats,
brainstorming, and feedback sessions

Computer-supported meeting technology has all manner of applications. We frequently use it to support strategic planning retreats, electronic brainstorming sessions, and public participation meetings. Combining the electronic brainstorming capabilities of a computer-supported meeting with visual language slides is a particularly effective way to stimulate innovative ideas during strategic planning and other kinds of ideation sessions.
